Key Project Documents
On these pages you will find a number of key project documents created in support of and in the management of our Building Fund and subsequent Re-ordering projects. This work is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund - Places of Worship Grant Scheme.
Here is a detailed Specification of all the Urgent Repair Works required to Roof & Rainwater Goods and Masonry. The state of repair of the church was considered to be Poor following an inspection by a Historic England architect. The church is listed on Historic England's Heritage at Risk List.
The real start of our project was to consult with the townsfolk and people from the surrounding area to see what they wanted their church to become in the future. We held an Open Evening which we advertised across the town and in the local press We took on board people's views and ideas by way of a variety of surveys, both at the meeting and also on-line. This was followed with telephone follow up with various community groups who used the church buildings and also local; schools. The findings are set out in this Consultation Report. There was good support for the consultation and a good consensus of what the church should become in the future. The afore mentioned Urgent Repair Works are just the start of a more ambitious re-ordering of the church building to become a real asset to the whole community.
We want to preserve our church buildings now and for future generations. We aim to do this by making more people aware of the heritage of the building. How we will do this is described in our Activity Statement . We hope that sharing our heritage with a wider audience today will help to ensure its future in decades to come.
