MU was founded in the early 1800s by Mary Sumner who realised that young women with children needed a place go in which to find friendship and love. There are now branches in over 83 countries in the world, where love is shown through action in helping those not so well off as we are. At St. Mary’s we meet on the second Tuesday in the month for lunch at 12 noon, followed by various speakers and discussions, not forgetting prayer, and of course tea, biscuits and a friendly group of people all pleased to welcome newcomers of any age or gender.
