The church stands on the North side of the Market Square in the centre of the town, separated from the square by the Sheepy Road. The tower, dating from about 1400 marks the division between the 14th Century chancel
(built of dressed sandstone) to the right, and
the 19th Century nave (built of granite rubble)
to the left.
