We start by keeping a minute or two of silence, inviting God to be in our thoughts and prayers
Spend a minute or two simply finding ways to praise God because He is our God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
“Thank you, Lord that you hear our prayers.”
- Let God give you a hug before you finish.

Father God, thank you for today. Help me to see the day ahead as a gift of time; time to learn of you; time to learn from you; time to work with you as you give your time to be with me. Thank you for the gift of friends; for food, shelter and the love of others. And when things are tough, Lord, open my eyes to see you there with me. Give me the faith to reach out and place my hand in yours - and so help me to my feet again - rejoicing in your great love. Thank you. Amen
There is no doubt that unless God had revealed
Himself to us, we could never know Him. And His
reason for doing so is clear right from the start; it is
love. God is love, and love can only be love when it
is given away. And right from the start, there in the
Garden of Eden, God gives away His love - knowing
the cost of failure to us - and to Him. But love has to
be tough. Only through hardship and failure can we
truly know what love is. This doesn't stop the pain,
because the gateway to the deepest love of all is through pain -the pain of failure, rejection, and loss. God has known them all. In Jesus Christ we see the perfect response to pain, right there on the cross of utter rejection - "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23'.34) If you have suffered the pain of failure, rejection or loss, whether your own fault or not, know this: God was there. He felt it too - and even more than you know. As a parent suffers terrible anguish and pain when a loved child is hurting, so God feels for you. Not that God is powerless - on the contrary -the greatest power in the universe is love. God simply asks us to respond to his love by placing everything - everything - into His hand. To learn to know God is to learn what love really is. You are loved; not for what you have achieved, but because you belong to God. You are loved, by all that is love. Trust Him; Know Him; Love Him. He is God.
The Gift of ... Knowing God
Lord, as I read the Bible I see how you have revealed yourself to us over thousands of years. I bless you that we have that wonderful record of those who have known you. Help me to understand its immense value and to use it daily so that I can know you better and hear what you are saying to me. And Lord, help me to see you in everyone I meet today so that I may love them just as you do, and may they see you in me.
The Gift of ... Love
Lord, I do love, although I confess it is often a weak love, based on feelings. When I see your love for those who hated you and killed you, I am ashamed. Yet, wonderfully, you have said that I am not only loved to the heights of heaven, but you have given me the very Spirit of God to love others in the same way. Lord, help me to put into practice today that same love. May your Holy Spirit give me the power to really love, as you do.
The Gift of ... Jesus Christ
There is no gift in the world that money can buy that compares with the wonder of love. Father, you have even put into human form, in your Son, that very same love. Help me to see, there in the manger, not just a baby, but the whole, distilled and visible love you have for me. And Lord, as your love penetrates my foolish heart, show me again, in your word, the messages of guidance and love that you are speaking just for me.
The Gift of ... The Holy Spirit
Lord, whenever I run into the day, feeling strong to serve you, I seem to trip up and fall. It is so easy to despise my failure and feel that I am not good enough. Lord, show me again how foolish that thinking is. As I reach out to you, take my hand, fill my whole being with your Holy Spirit. Heal my foolish heart and open my eyes to see your Holy Spirit at work everywhere so that I may do you loving work, in power and in joy.
The Gift of ... God's Word
Lord, there are times when the Bible thrills my soul, and times when it washes over me without understanding. But like a jigsaw, every part has its right place, however strange it may seem at first. Lord, I know that there are many who know nothing of your word. Lord, this gift is too precious to be kept hidden on my shelf so help me take today's portion out with me and not rest until I find where its home is meant to be.
The Gift of ... God's Church
Thank you, Lord for your Church. I know it is imperfect because I am imperfect, but you came
to call sinners, not saints. Thank you too that my growing in love depends upon others as their growth depends upon me. Togetherness. Like weak strands in a rope, together we are strong -pulled apart we are useless. Thank you that you have promised to lead us and feed us as we learn to live for you, bringing others to know your life.
