Spend a minute or two simply finding ways
to praise God because
He is our God;
Father, Son
and Holy Spirit.
Read your Bible (if you haven’t already).
We start by keeping a minute or two of silence, inviting God to be in our thoughts and prayers
Start here for daily prayers and follow the route for the day.
Read the notes on the back cover.

Our relationship with ... God
If only we knew the love and the care in which God holds us. You are like a precious jewel in His hand that He looks on every moment. “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). Dear Father, You have given me your very own heart of love.
Help me today to remember that I am Your child and to seek out Your plan for me - the best plan of all.
Our relationship with ... The Church
The Church is no less than the family of God here on earth. We are here to set an example of what family life should be. We are not yet perfect but we have our Father’s love. As St Paul says, “May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.” (1Thessalonians 3:12)
Dear Lord, thank You for including me in Your
family. May I be an example of Your love today.
Our relationship with ... Our Earthly Family
God created us to live in loving families so that we could learn the meaning of love - especially His love for us. But human nature is far from perfect and we can easily get a wrong picture of God if things are bad and God is not put first - before even our loved ones.
Lord, open my eyes to the amazing love You
have for me and give me the strength to love
my family fully, as You do.
Our relationship with ... Our Friends
“A friend in need is a friend indeed” as the saying goes. We are grateful to those who stand alongside us in need but more importantly it means us being a friend to others in need - and there is no shortage of need! Our friends are those we support in need. No support - no friends!
Lord help me to be a friend wherever there is a
need that I can respond to.
Our relationship with ... Strangers
A stranger is an opportunity to love. Of course
it is wise to exercise care. Even Jesus was careful (John 2:24). But He loved them. He fed them. He healed them. He taught them - and He died for them. Wisdom, compassion and Christian love are the hallmarks of the disciple towards strangers.
Lord, give me the power of Your love for others
so that they can know You in me.
Our relationship with ... Our Enemies
Jesus died on the cross for love of all mankind. Many rejected that love to their great loss, but that was their decision. Even Judas was loved to the last. Love is the only power that can overcome hatred and opposition. Love can do what war, revenge and violence can never do - love can turn our enemies into friends. Now that is real power! Lord help me to love as You love.
Lord Jesus, I so easily get mixed up trying to learn about love. Help me to spend enough time with You that I can begin to know just how wonderful is Your love for me - a love I could never deserve or earn -
a love without limit - a love which covers me when I am afraid and shines out when I am happy. A love so great that You died for all the bad things I have ever done. A love that came to life at Easter and now lives within me. Help me to love like that. Amen.
Sometimes the things Jesus said puzzle us. “If anyone
does not love me more than his father and mother, his
wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even
his own life—he cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:26)
A puzzle until we realize that Jesus is the source of real
love. Only by putting Him first can we truly love others -
even our own family. But there is more .. Jesus pictures
himself as the unknown stranger who is helped by
those who love Him and receive His blessing - and rejected by those who reject Him with terrible consequences (Matthew 25:31-46) And look what he says about enemies ...“Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.” (Luke 6:35) Impossible? Yes, if we try it without Him. But those who are prepared to become children of God have a new, supernatural strength to do what others can never do. “ Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.”
Love, real love, can only come from Jesus. When He is first, everything else will fall into its right place - with His blessing!
