Proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ
The Parish Church of St Mary, Atherstone
The Parish Church has a lively congregation of all ages representing all shades of churchmanship from Evangelical to Catholic with a Charismatic element linking them together.
Services range from the quiet, said service of Communion according to the Book of Common prayer, at 8am alternate Sundays, to the lively, modern, main service at 10am with a variety of styles from all inclusive Family Worship once a month to Holy Communion services (Common Worship) every fortnight and teaching services every third Sunday.
The children are catered for with exciting activities in groups according to age on all Sundays except the first in the month when they take part in the all-age worship.
The evening Service at 6pm also alternates between Holy Communion (CW) and Evening Prayer (CW) with some services said and others sung.
Special events in the town punctuate the year and bring in crowds of visitors to swell the local population as they enjoy:-
The Ball Game - held every Shrove Tuesday afternoon
The Fun Day - held on the first Saturday in June
Dickens Night - held towards the end of November

Atherstone lies on the old Roman WatlingStreet (now the A5) North of Coventry and between Tamworth and Nuneaton. Once the centre of hat making and coal mining in the Warwickshire and Leicestershire fields, it now relies on its central position and ease of access to host a number of large national distribution depots.
Atherstone still retains its Market town feel with shops and supermarkets providing residents and visitors alike with goods and services - not forgetting of course the inns for which the town is famous.
A market is held twice weekly on the Market Square in front of the church every Tuesday and Friday, offering a wide variety of fruit, vegetables and flowers as well as clothing, shoes and household goods.
Youth groups include GFS with some 80 girls of all ages involved, and CL&CGB with both boys and girls. Both meet weekly throughout the year.
Adult groups include a number of House Groups, Mothers’ Union, Mens’ Breakfast and Bellringers.
The church Lounge is open for Fair Trade tea and coffee and for book sales on Market days from 10am to noon.
